Hello Guys!
Here is a short Message from HC4/NP3D.
Please check the pictures as promised.
I stayed 5 days in near Manta town name Puerto Cayo
on the Ocean Small but Ham Friendly Hosteria. About
25 meters from the beach. Made about 2000 QSO's
mostly on 40 and 80 meters CW. No propogation on
higher bands but 40 meters CW was wonderful! Had
IC-706MKIIG + SB-200 Amp.
Installed R6000 by Cushcraft ad Inv Vee for 40 and
80 meters. Had no Internet. Pile up on 80 and
especially on 40 meters from Japan stations.
Europe was coming strong and some Pacific too. Had
static QRM on 20 - 10 meters. On lower bands NO QRM
just Pile up from JA, Hi. Listened 5 up and was
smashed by Ja stations. Last time I had such things
in 1991 from Mary Turkoman being RH1E/RC2AR and
probably from 4K5ZI in July, 1991. Well 80 meters
from Puerto Rico and Cyprus were good too.
Did not make a trip to SA-033. Expensive and had no
time enough.
Will go back in October, 2003 for CQ WW SSB 80
meters. If manage to collect extra funds will be
Happy to QRV from IOTA Isla de la Plata. We made
some arrangements with the Captain of a boat but do
need money, Hi.
Thank you for reading this and will stay in touch.
Planning to QRV in May from somewhere, HI.
My special Thanks to Alexandre, HC1AJQ and his
beautiful wife Lyuba for their assistance in this
outstanding trip. Thanks to Sergey, HC1ACW for his
training in shooting from the Glock Gun. I made 5
out 10 byt Sergey is a Flagman, he did 10 out of 10!
And I feel shame I was not able to hear Joe W3HNK
when he called me on 80 meters. Will try harder next
time, Joe!
73, de Andy NP3D
