IOTA- is an international diplomatic program, made with the purpose to attract the interest of all radio amateurs to contact the radio stations from islands all over the world. This program was established in 1964 by famous English radio amateur Jeff Watson. In 1985 IOTA was taken under the care of national radio amateur’s organization of Great Britain-RSGB.
      The basic rule on which is based this whole program, is that on diplomas all the radio traffics with this different groups of islands are counted, but there are some exceptions; like when those groups include only one island. For the moment there are 18 diplomas differenced by their complexity of its achievement and the highest reward of the program is «Plaque of Excellence».
      Here in Ecuador, despite of its small territory, there are some islands that are included in the IOTA program, and we are planning on acclimatizing them.

• SA-004 HC8 Galapagos Islands

• SA-033 HC4 Isla de la Plata

• SA-034 HC4 Puna Group (includes Santa Clara)

• SA-056 HC4 Cojimies
